In the US, a Missouri man visited Lake of Three Fires in Taylor County during a trip to Iowa recently. The man who swam into the lake later became ill. He was admitted to Jefferson City hospital in early July.

The doctors who examined the patient were stunned by the truth that emerged. ‘Naegleria fowleri’, a rare infection known as ‘brain-eating amoeba’, was detected in the patient.
It is stated that the health condition of the man, who appeared to be infected with brain-eating amoeba while swimming in the lake, is critical.
FIRST AFTER 35 YEARS
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services announced that the case was the first confirmed case in the state in 35 years. The only other case identified in a Missouri resident occurred in 1987.
Across the US, only 154 cases have been identified since 1962.
Three cases of Naegleria fowleri infection were reported in the United States in 2021, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Last year, a three-year-old boy died from a brain-eating amoeba after a splash of water in a Texas park.
