Tero Seppälä is in a good mood to go on the normal trip to the Biathlon World Championships on Tuesday. Skiing goes on and the return to the old style in vertical shooting seems to work better than the change made for this season.

Seppälä started this season with coaching to modify the position of the support hand in vertical shooting. However, the changes have not worked. In the fast race of the World Championships, Seppälä missed four out of five shots from the vertical position. The berth went clean, but the ranking was only 47th.

– We have trusted that the changes will be successful. Always in a good mood. Now the measure is starting to fill up. Let’s go back to the final races, perhaps to last year’s adjustments, so that we don’t have to get everything wrong, Seppälä stated after the sprint race.

In the chase, Seppälä switched back to the old one. Sports expert Kaisa Mäkäräinen noticed it even before the competition in alignment.

– It showed that Tero is going back to his old ways. Gun stocks are built from many different pieces because it is easy to make quick changes. Tero has replaced it with a different vertical block, which he has used earlier this season, Mäkäräinen said.

Seppälä confirmed the matter after the competition.

– I went back to the old one, that is, I changed the vertical shooting block to the old one. It then continued the same as last year, i.e. from number one (one missed shot). That’s why they tried to change it this year, so that they would change to zero. But this was significantly better than in the sprint race.

Sports expert Ville Kotikumpu shows in the video what Seppälä’s changes are all about.

In the chase, Seppälä fired one shot from both upright positions, as well as from both lying positions. He rose 23 places and was 24th in the final results.

– I shot quickly and was determined. Individual mistakes, but not many here shot just zero.

So Seppälä can get from comfortable settings to a normal trip.

– I am happy. I had a much better race. The weather seems to stay wet and I have a ski that works well in these weather conditions.

Finns on a normal trip are also included Olli Hiidensalo (number 29), Tuomas Harjula (88) and Jaakko Ranta (101). Seppälä’s departure number is 50.

Oberhof World Cup men’s normal trip TV2 and Areena at 15:15.
