According to Tero Pitkämäki, among other things, the lack of routine in the value competition finals was visible in Oliver Helander’s moves. According to sports coach Petteri Piironen, Lassi Etelätalo met expectations.

Finland’s greatest hope for a medal, Oliver Helander, was a huge disappointment, finishing eighth with one pass in the javelin finals at the World Championships in Oregon. Highest among Finns Lassi Etelätalowho finished sixth with a season-best 82.70.
Helander was even in danger of dropping out of the further rounds, but the throw of 82.24 in the third round saved him into the top eight.
Helander’s personal trainer Tero Pitkämäki stated that Helander’s charging went over and, for example, there was over-attempting in the opening round throw.
– The pace was too fast compared to the level of the day and the throws went through. It’s really hard to turn things around, Pitkämäki lamented in a TV interview with .
According to Pitkämäki, the lack of routine from the value competition final was also visible in the throwing. Oregon’s World Championship final was Helander’s first in his career.
– Maybe in less than a month it will be a little better in Munich, when there is experience behind it, Pitkämäki stated and referred to the European Championships.
Helander himself was disappointed after the race.
– It was surprisingly difficult to throw. One came a little over there, he lamented.
– When you throw in a bad position in this wind, it won’t fly anywhere.
Etelätalo supplied the factory with Takuu
Sports coach Petteri Piironen according to Lassi Etelätalo, who threw 82.70 meters, met the expectations placed on him.
– Lassi became the scorer at the factory Takuuu and had a good value race performance. Instead of Oliverillanen, there was a charge for the first throws, with which the medal result will come, if it comes. This time it didn’t work, Piironen commented.
The story continues after the video.
According to Piiroinen, it was great that Helander got a moderate result and score with his third throw.
– It was not what was expected, but not bad either.
Better seams in the European Championships
Grenada won the world championship Anderson Peters with a result of 90.54. Peters, who also celebrated the World Championship gold in Doha, threw more than 90 meters three times. Silver was achieved Neeraj Chopra (88,13) and bronze Jakub Vadlejch (88,09).
Among the Europeans, only the Czech Vadlejch and Germany edged ahead of the Finnish duo Julian Weber with a result of 86.86. According to Pitkämäki, the Finns in Munich have better seams for medals.
– The level was tough today. Those who threw well in the qualifiers also threw far in the final. Pretty expected results. I think the level is tough even in the European Championships, medals don’t come easily there, Pitkämäki stated.
The European Championships will be held from 15 to 21 August.
