– What a fantastic race she is doing, Franziska Preuss. I think she is very satisfied anyway, says SVT’s expert Helena Ekholm.
It was set for a folk party on Sunday in Östersund after Hanna Öberg won the single mixed relay together with Sebastian Samuelsson the day before.
But pretty soon the Swedes pushed away one by one in the first individual race of the season, distance 15 km.
Both Elvira and Hanna Öberg opened strongly and were first and third respectively after the first shot. Hanna Öberg then shot three blocks and Elvira Öberg a total of six blocks.
Linn Persson’s best Swedish
At the top, there were two Germans who shot full, Franziska Preuss and Vanessa Voigt. At the finish, however, Italian Lisa Vittozzi led for a long time, but Preuss had to go on her times after the last shot and the finish was a shocker.
The clock stopped a tenth too slow for Preuss and Vittozzi won, after shooting a boom. Preuss was second and Voigt grabbed third place.
– It was really on the hair, says SVT’s expert Björn Ferry.
Linn Persson and Mona Brorsson shot the best of the Swedes, who finished with two blocks each.
Linn Persson was the best Swede in 15th place. Hanna Öberg was 16th best skater. Elvira Öberg had the best riding time of all, but was only 39th after her six barriers.
Other Swedes: Mona Brorsson, place 50; Anna Magnusson, 56; Stina Nilsson, 84; Tilda Johansson, 89
