Following the attack on Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, very harsh statements came from the Israeli front. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said in a statement following the attack on the Golan Heights, “We are approaching the moment of an all-out war against Hezbollah and Lebanon.”
FOOTBALL FIELD TARGETED: 11 DEAD
The death toll from a rocket attack on a football field in the town of Majdal Shams, a predominantly Druze community in the northern Golan Heights, has risen to 11, according to a statement by the Israeli army spokesman.
The Israeli emergency aid service, the Red Star of David, reported that 24 people were injured in the attack, six of them seriously.
The Israeli army said the rocket was fired from the north of the town of Sheba in southern Lebanon “based on their intelligence and their assessment” and that Lebanese Hezbollah was responsible.
“WE ARE APPROACHING A MOMENT OF ALL-OUT WAR”
Following the attack on Majdal Shams in the northern part of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz made a strong statement. Katz said, “Hezbollah’s attack today crossed all red lines and there will be an appropriate response. We are approaching the moment of an all-out war against Hezbollah and Lebanon.”
NETANYAHU RETURNS TO ISRAEL EARLY
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is holding talks in the US, has brought forward his return to Israel from the US. It was reported that Netanyahu gave instructions for his plane to depart at the earliest possible hour. A source close to Netanyahu stated that the plane will depart from the US capital Washington DC at 01:00 GMT.
HIZBULLAH DENIED THE ATTACK
Hezbollah made a statement after the attack, saying that they did not launch a rocket attack on Majdal Shams and that they had no connection with the attack.
Hezbollah had previously announced that it had fired dozens of rockets at an Israeli base in the Golan Heights.
On the other hand, 10 Israelis between the ages of 10 and 20 were killed and at least 12 others were injured when a rocket hit a football field in the attack on Majdal Shams.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM NETANYAHU
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone with the leader of Israel’s Druze community following the attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
“Hezbollah will pay a heavy price, the likes of which it has never paid before,” Netanyahu said during the meeting.
