Tension rises for fishing derby Bunschoten wants to adjust football

It is the highlight of the year in Bunschoten: the fishing derby between football club Spakenburg and IJsselmeervogels. From a sporting point of view, the Blauwen and the Reds are in safe waters, but that does not mean that there is no tension in the air for this afternoon’s game. After a season full of disturbances, cameras, officers and traffic controllers have to keep the peace at De Westmaat sports park. Mayor Melis van de Groep wants to go one step further: he believes that the football law should be amended, so that in amateur football too bad guys can be tackled harder.
