After China has recently increased its military presence in the Asia-Pacific, Taiwan has begun missile tests that will last for three days. On the other hand, no statement has been made yet about which types of missiles Taiwan will test for 3 days.
MISSILE TRIALS STARTED
Missile tests started in Pingtung, southeastern Taiwan. While it was announced by the Taiwan National Chung-Shan Science and Technology Institute (NCSIST) that missile tests started at the Jiupeng military base in Pingtung city, it was stated that the tests would be carried out between 10-12 May. In the statement, it was reported that a total of 4 rounds of missile tests will be carried out only in the early morning and noon hours for 3 days. It has also been announced that unmanned aerial vehicles will be deployed in the region by NCSIST to monitor the tests.
‘STAY AWAY FROM THE AREA’ WARNING
Authorities warned aircraft and ships to avoid the test area, which covers Taiwan’s southeast waters surrounding Orchid Island and Green Island, during missile tests.
On the other hand, it was recorded that a warship belonging to the People’s Republic of China was detected yesterday at around 05.00 local time, in the northeast of Orchid Island, on the first day that NCSIST started missile tests.
NO EXPLANATION ON WHICH TYPES OF MISSILES HAVE BEEN TESTED YET
Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense spokesperson Sun Li-fang said in a statement that the Taiwanese army is closely monitoring China’s military maneuvers in the waters and airspace surrounding Taiwan. No statement has been made yet about which types of missiles Taiwan will test for 3 days.
