To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the EFF did not skimp on resources and gathered tens of thousands of supporters in the largest stadium in the country.

In the audience, Zanele, red beret on her head, is one of those disappointed with the ANC in power. ” We have been fighting for so long for our freedom, and yet people continue to suffer. But since the birth of the EFF, we see a glimmer of hope. We’re going to get housing, free education, economic liberation, and everything else. »

But despite the initial enthusiasm, the party is struggling to take off beyond 10%. The EFF hopes to succeed in further mobilizing the country’s youth, like Dominic, 33: ” In 2024, we will take power. No question of coalition, or anything, we will take everything and we will be in charge of this country. »

On a stage worthy of a blockbuster, Julius Malema, nicknamed Juju. The former leader of the ANC youth league, dissented and launched his radical left party in 2013, just after the Marikana massacre. He returned during his speech to his favorite themes, namely the redistribution of land and free higher education. But he also mentioned the Russian president’s non-arrival at the Brics summit: ” We want to let President Putin know that it is not us, the South Africans, who refuse his visit, but it is Ramaphosa, the coward. We are Putin, and Putin is us. »

Julius Malema calls on the other Brics leaders to boycott the South African summit scheduled for the end of August.
