Tennis: World number one Iga Swiatek’s concern after the victory: “Hope she’s okay”

It was at 3-2 to Swiatek in the first set that Martic went down deep to receive a ball at the baseline and fell to the court. She played on but a few games later received a medical timeout on the court where her whole body was examined and she ended up lying on a towel.

The 85-ranked Croatian was able to continue the match and did not seem to be hampered by the incident and put up a good fightback.

    – I hope she is okay, not everyone is able to continue after such an event, said a worried Swiatek in the interview on the track in Eurosport’s broadcast.

It was Swiatek’s 21st win in a row and she is chasing her first victory at Wimbledon where she has never gone beyond the quarter-finals, which happened last year.

    – I have good confidence and my server has improved, said Swiatek.
