Tennis: The tennis association’s sports director ahead of Mikael Ymer’s comeback: “He is welcome”

It was in July 2023 that Mikael Ymer, Sweden’s best tennis player at the time, was suspended due to a doping violation. He had failed three doping tests in 2021 and was banned for 18 months.

Now the comeback is approaching for the 26-year-old. In mid-January, he can start playing tennis again. Simon Aspelin, sports director for the tennis association, is positive that the star is approaching a comeback.

– He was very involved in us reaching the Davis Cup finals three times. We look forward to having him back. We need to get a better exchange and results, he says in SVT’s broadcast from the Nordic Open in Stockholm.
