– We had good energy from the start and played good tennis. It was fun, says Göransson in the interview on the track in TV4’s broadcast.
When Göransson angled down a forehand that India couldn’t hold before for the line, the point was challenged, it was over and great cheers erupted in the hall.
– Leo and Elias played really well yesterday and we were able to play relaxed. It was nice to be able to deliver and close this match, says Bergevi.
Göransson and Bergevi defeated India’s Sriram Balaji and Ramkumar Ramanathan before the stomping and cheering in the Royal Tennis Hall in Stockholm.
The playoff game in early February 2025
During yesterday, Elias Ymer and Leo Borg won their singles matches.
A fourth match will be played, even though it is unassailable 3-0 to Sweden, before the Davis Cup weekend is over in Stockholm.
The match was part of World Group 1 and concerned the qualification for the Davis Cup finals.
The qualification, or playoff, will be played at the beginning of February next year, and then Mikael Ymer’s doping suspension will have expired.
