Tennis: Mikael Ymer ready for comeback in Davis Cup

See in the clip what Simon Aspelin says about removing Ymer even though he was previously suspended for doping.

Mikael Ymer missed three stay reports and was suspended from all tennis for 18 months in the summer of 2023.

But Mikael Ymer has been training regularly in Stockholm since last spring, and on January 17th the suspension is lifted.

– I would say that when you have been in the top 100 for quite a few years, you are a very good tennis player. And that level doesn’t disappear because you’re away for a year or two, says Aspelin.

The Swedish Tennis Association plans to enroll the 26-year-old in the Swedish Davis Cup squad, which faces Australia January 31-February 1, which Expressen was the first to report on.

– We are of course underdogs. Australia is ranked second in the world and has several world stars. But the players are looking forward to this match incredibly much, and both Mikael and Elias Ymer can compete with the world elite. We absolutely have a chance to beat them, says Aspelin.
