– I felt good. I controlled my emotions and myself in a fine way. I was calm in the situations I needed to be, says Alcaraz in the victory interview on Eurosport afterwards.

Carlos Alcaraz started strongly and looked very confident in his game in the first set, which he took 6-3, in the semi-final against Stefanos Tsitsipas on clay at the French Open.

The Greek came back into the match; midway through the second set, he gave himself a better chance and made it more difficult for his 21-year-old opponent. However, he did not manage to win the set, which went to a tiebreak. 7-6 to Alcaraz.

Impressed in the end

The Spaniard then showed strength in an even third set. He made many wise, daring decisions and rounded off the game. The numbers were written there to 6-3 and a total of 3-0 in the set.

Carlos Alcaraz faces the new world number one Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals.

Tributes the opponent

He sends nice words to Sinner.

– It is a difficult challenge. Right now he is the best in the world. He is the player playing the best tennis right now. We’ve played a lot of great games. I’m happy to have him here, at this level. He pushes me to give one hundred percent every day to try to beat him. I love watching him play. It will be a difficult challenge.

Alcaraz has reached the semifinals of the French Open the longest before.
