Tenant may charge 70,000 for indoor smoking

The man, who is in his 30s, was evicted from his apartment two years ago. In connection with the eviction, the apartment was inspected, and the landlord therefore decided to carry out an extensive renovation, including barrier painting of the walls and sanding of the parquet, the newspaper writes.

The district court sentences the man to pay the sum as compensation for the renovation through a so-called default judgment, because he did not contact the court.

The man must also pay almost SEK 16,000 to the landlord for two unpaid rents.

In April last year, a man was sentenced to pay more than SEK 400,000 in damages to his landlord for an indoor bill, writes Hem & Hyra.
