The Court of Appeal sentences a woman to ten years in prison for attempted murder of her partner, Gefle Dagblad reports.
The woman stabbed the man with a kitchen knife several times in the head, neck and shoulder in the bathroom of the couple’s shared home in August last year, according to GD.
The woman claimed that others had been inside the home and committed the crime. But the Court of Appeal states that everything “strongly suggests” that the woman did the deed. The court points out, among other things, that the man’s blood was secured in two places on the woman’s body.
The Court of Appeal thereby tightens the sentence from February. The Gävle district court then sentenced the woman to four years in prison for serious assault. The sentence was appealed by the public prosecutor, who demanded twelve years in prison for attempted murder for the woman.
In addition to the prison sentence, the woman must pay a quarter of a million kroner in damages to the man.
