Ten new Swedes ready for the Summer Olympics – after impressive performances at the European Athletics Championships: “Many exciting names”

Ten new names are ready for the Olympics in Paris. On Friday, among others, the sprinter Henrik Larsson, who finished fourth in the 100 meters in the EC, was given the go-ahead by the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOC).

Henrik Larsson’s effort in the EC final at the Olympic Stadium in Rome last weekend was not enough for a medal – but well for an Olympic place.

Ready for the Olympics

In addition to the 100-meter runner, four more track and field athletes were presented. It is about Vanessa Kamgadiscus, Thea Löfmanhammer, Oskar Edlund in the 400 meter hurdles and the shot put Axelina Johansson.

A total of 15 athletes are now ready for the Olympics.
“There are both established medal hopefuls and several interesting future names making their first Olympics,” says SOK’s team manager Peter Reinebo about the athletes in a press release.

“Nice mix”

The 28-year-old boxer Agnes Alexiussonwho took an international quota place at competitions in Bangkok two weeks ago, is also selected.

The same applies to the rifleman Victor Lindgren and the gunner Stina Lawneras well as the cyclist Jakob Söderqvist and Isak Öhrström in canoe slalom.
“We have a nice mix in the squad with athletes from many different sports and disciplines. In addition to a number of very successful and seasoned Olympians, we also have many exciting younger actives who are developing rapidly and are now taking their place in the Olympic squad,” says Reinebo.

The next time SOK expands the squad will be June 26. The Olympics in Paris open on July 26.
