Ten Pakistani border police have been killed in an attack by an Islamist group in northeastern Pakistan late Thursday, local security sources told AFP and Reuters.
The armed Islamist group Tehreek-e-Taliban, or Pakistani Taliban, says it carried out the attack.
According to security sources, a total of 20 gunmen attacked the border police checkpoint. The firefight lasted almost an hour.
Taliban attacks in Pakistan have intensified since the extremist Islamist movement regained power in Pakistan’s neighboring country of Afghanistan.
