Even before the season 2 premiere, the action series Reacher was renewed for season 3 on Amazon Prime Video. There are a total of 29 novels that the series creators can use – for season 2 they chose an atypical Reacher story and received a lot of criticism for it. Season 3 aims to do better.
Big criticism of the Amazon series: Season 2 completely neglected Reacher
We meet Reacher in the first season of the Amazon series bizarre and monosyllabic closet in the American prairie. He wants to solve his brother’s murder and spends a lot of time traveling alone and on his own in a strange small town. To advance his investigation, he occasionally teams up with two rule-abiding law enforcement officers who are the complete opposite of him.
In season 2, however, he gathers his old military unit around him, because someone is targeting the team. The character Reacher is completely lost in the family group, rarely travels alone, talks a lot (!) and only spends time with like-minded people. In the mass of exaggerated action heroes, that makes him an uninteresting mountain of muscle. This was also reflected in the reviews:

Dhruv Sharma writes at Screen Rant that Reacher will be in season 2 “too invisible” has become. Erik Kain sums it up well for Forbes:
If he’s just one of many on a team, then there is simply not enough, which makes him a really exciting protagonist.
Many fans also expressed their displeasure and are now happy that season 3 wants to return to the roots. On Reddit, one user sums it up like this:

Thankfully, Season 3 goes back to what works.
According to the original author Lee Child himself, season 3 should show Reacher as a lone wolf again.

Lee Child recently revealed details about season 3 to the entertainment and news site The Messenger. Not only has the author written all 28 Reacher novels * published to date, he also co-produces the hit series for Amazon. He already knows which of the books will serve as a template for the next season.
“We had the feeling “We need a book for Season 3 in which Reacher is more alone,” was also Lee Child’s insight. In doing so, he speaks from the hearts of some fans and critics. He is very happy with how they will continue the series in season 3. However, he has not yet revealed which specific novel is being used as a template this time.
Reacher works best in the series when he’s doing his thing and standing out as an absurdly muscular, sophisticated outsider. In season 3 the chances of this are good again.
