Telia is getting rid of 1,500 positions during the year, that is 500 more than the 1,000 that will be eliminated in the first quarter that was announced last week. CEO Allison Kirkby says that the company has been hit hard by the economic situation and that growth is believed to be somewhat weaker going forward.
When the company is to become more digital, several positions become redundant, and the cuts affect both employees and consultants.
On the stock exchange, Telia’s share plummeted today after the company’s interim report and the dividend to shareholders is expected to be reduced compared to the previous year.
