1 Billion TL Investment from Teknosa, 2-fold Growth Target in e-commerce

Teknosa, the leading brand of technology retailing and e-commerce in Turkey, is strengthening the transformation program it has been continuing since 2019 with the ‘Digital-Focused Transformation’ phase. Teknosa, one of Sabancı Holding subsidiaries, focused on digital infrastructure and solutions as of the third quarter of 2023 in the program it initiated to transform into a multi-channel retailer with strong financials. Teknosa will increasingly continue its innovations in digital and experience-oriented retailing, marketplace, cross-channel mobility, supply chain and artificial intelligence within the scope of the ‘Digital Focused Transformation’ program.

“We increased our performance in every field”

Speaking at the press conference where Teknosa’s 2023 financial results were announced and 2024 targets were shared, Teknosa CEO Sitare Sezgin stated that they are growing steadily with a focus on digitalization, customer experience and sustainability, and said:

“In 2023, we increased our turnover to 47.3 billion TL and our net profit to 748 million TL, according to inflation accounting results. We increased our e-commerce gross transaction volume (GMV) by 68 percent, reaching approximately 10.1 billion TL. We are happy to see the successful results of our transformation program that we have implemented since 2019. We are implementing end-to-end innovations under the headings of ‘Financial and Operational’, ‘Service and Private Brand’, ‘Marketplace in Digital Channels’ and ‘Digital-Focused Transformation’, which we launched in the third quarter of 2023. We have increased our performance in every field in the 4.5 years we have implemented the transformation program. Traffic on our website increased 2 times. There was an increase of approximately 45% in the number of our customers. In periodic evaluations and measurements, our NPS, or Recommendation Score, increased by 30 points. Our e-commerce share, including marketplace, increased by 2.3 times. Our market share increased by 1.5 points. This year, we continue to transform our company into a digital consumer electronics platform with a strong physical presence by focusing on digital infrastructure and solutions.”

“We want to grow with new categories”

Stating that they plan to invest 1 billion TL in 2024, Sitare Sezgin emphasized that they will continue to invest in digitalization, multi-channel customer experience, technological infrastructure, IT, artificial intelligence solutions, store openings and renovations. Stating that they want to maintain sustainable profitability by growing above the market in 2024, Sezgin said: “We increased our product diversity by 36 times to 200 thousand units in the first technology-oriented marketplace in our sector. Our long-term goal is to grow Teknosa with the new categories we create in the marketplace. We recently expanded our product range for well-being and opened a special tab on teknosa.com. With this innovation, we became the first company in Turkey to embrace the issue of wellbeing in our sector. We aim to double our e-commerce gross transaction volume through our digital channels, which we have further strengthened with the marketplace. On the other hand, we continue to transform our store network in line with developing trends. As of the second half of 2022, we have transformed 28 of our stores into a digital concept. “Our new digital store concept, which is a first in the industry, has a much more comfortable, digital, accessible and sustainable structure.”

“Technology is not a man’s job”

Emphasizing that sustainability is at the center of all Teknosa’s business, Sezgin shared the following information: “We want to achieve ‘Net Zero Emission’ by 2050. To achieve this, we implement practices that contribute to renewable energy, energy saving, waste management and circular economy. We increased our score to A- (leadership) level in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change program, for which we reported for the first time in 2022. We installed Solar Power Plant on the roof of our Adana Sabancı store. The panels we install here produce 175 thousand kWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the consumption of approximately 58 households. We use renewable energy in our logistics center and 80 stores. We continue on our way with strong collaborations in the field of Solar Energy Systems with Iklimsa, our leading brand in the air conditioning industry. We say ‘Technology is not a man’s job’. 52% of our managers at the Head Office and more than 40% of our middle level managers are female employees. Our ‘Technology for Women’ project, which we carry out throughout Turkey together with Habitat Association, has completed its 17th year. To date, we have provided technology training to more than 30 thousand women. “We will continue to work with the goal of a Teknosa that creates more value for our country and our stakeholders.”
