Teenager was killed – no defendant is convicted of murder

Four people, between the ages of 16 and 24, have been indicted on suspicion of kidnapping and then killing a 17-year-old boy last summer. On Monday, the Nacka district court announced that none of the accused can be convicted as the perpetrator of the murder.

It was on July 26 last year that a passerby found a dead person in a forest area in Orminge in Nacka municipality. It would turn out to be the 17-year-old boy who, according to the police, had been reported missing the day before.

According to the indictment, the 17-year-old was kidnapped and then stabbed in the chest and shot in the head with a submachine gun.

A total of seven were charged

A total of seven people were indicted for involvement in the crimes, of which four of them were indicted on suspicion of murder and kidnapping. But according to the district court, none of the defendants can be linked to the scene of the murder.

The prosecutor has also not been able to prove who it is that held the weapon, says legal expert Johanna Björkman.

– Several of those who have been prosecuted have been charged with an extended perpetrator, that is to say that you must have done certain parts on the way to what then becomes a murder. There are several who are sentenced for participation in various aspects of what the prosecutor claims they have done, which is why the prison sentences will be quite long. But no one is sentenced for the murder itself, she says.

Prosecutor Lukas Tigerstrand believes that it is a well-reasoned verdict.

– I have read the judgment quite briefly, but I can state that the district court shares our assessments in several cases, but that they went against us in some parts. My first impression is that it is a well-reasoned and well-written judgement, but we who worked on this case will analyze it more carefully, he says.

20-year-old man is sentenced to 13 years in prison

The district court sentences a 20-year-old man for instructing a 14-year-old to deliver the gun to the perpetrator who carried out the murder of the 17-year-old. He is also convicted of attempted extortion and assault against the boy. The penalty is imprisonment for 13 years.

A 25-year-old man is also sentenced to eight years in prison for having helped buy the car that the 17-year-old was kidnapped and taken away with. Two 16-year-olds are also sentenced for luring the 17-year-old to the place where he was kidnapped. They are sentenced to youth care.

– One person is also sentenced for having participated afterwards by burning up the car in which the 17-year-old was transported. Two are completely acquitted of involvement in this murder and kidnapping. However, it is sentenced for other crimes, says Johanna Björkman.
