It was a September evening last year that the police were alerted to fires in three stairwells in the Brandkärr district. Suspicions that they were staged were quickly dismissed and five people, three teenage boys and two men in their twenties, were charged in April on suspicion of having been involved in various ways in two of the fires.
A teenager is sentenced
On Friday, the district court announced its verdict. One of the teenage boys is convicted of arson when he poured petrol and set fire to an apartment door in one of the stairwells. He has previously been sentenced to nine months of closed youth care for the explosion in Brandkärr. The punishment, according to the court, should also apply to this crime.

The other teenage boy who was suspected of having started a fire at an apartment door in the second stairwell is acquitted, as the district court, among other things, does not think there is enough evidence to be able to rule out that it was not started by someone else.
The two suspected drivers, the third teenager and one of the men, are also acquitted. The man who was charged with helping one of the teenagers escape is also acquitted, as the teenager in question is not convicted of any crime.
