Just before 11.30 p.m., the police were alerted by several people about a shooting in Bagarmossen.
A young man between the ages of 15 and 18 was seriously injured and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
On Wednesday morning, the police announced that he died of his injuries and the incident is being investigated as a murder.
The police have searched for the suspected perpetrator with a helicopter and dogs, but no one has yet been arrested.
Relatives have been notified.
Shooting in Åkersberga
Barely two hours later, the police were also alerted to a shooting in Åkersberga north of Stockholm. A 35-year-old man was injured and was taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter.
He is said to have been awake and able to speak, and the police are investigating the incident as attempted murder.
