Teddy Riner returns to competition

Almost five months after the Paris Olympic Games, Teddy Riner will make his return to competition with PSG judo on Saturday December 21 in Montpellier for the Champions League, his club announced on Friday. Initially, the five-time Olympic champion was not announced in the PSG squad for the competition, due to failure to extend his contract with the Parisian club, which expired on August 31. But an agreement on an extension, the duration of which was not specified, was finally reached to allow the judoka to participate in the end-of-year tournament. Riner has not fought since the Paris Olympics this summer, where he won a third individual Olympic heavyweight title (+100 kg) and a second team gold. On Monday, the French Judo Federation also announced the participation of the Guadeloupean, eleven times world champion, in the prestigious Grand Slam in Paris in February. The 35-year-old judoka expressed his desire to continue his career until the Los Angeles Games in 2028.
