According to the police, a delegation visited the manufacturer in Finland to “make sure that the problem of technical barriers is dealt with urgently”.
Lots of Swedes have had to wait far longer than normal to get a new passport. The problems started when mass-booked times for new passports were sold on social media. The police were therefore forced to change the booking system and make the bookings personal. The police also went into a national special event in order to increase resources and increase the opening hours and opportunities to book pass times.
In addition, first and last names were confused in 20,000 passports, which can cause problems for those affected if they need to apply for visas in other countries.
