Tesla Model Y became the world’s best -selling electric car in 2024, and the world’s best -selling car all categories in 2023. In Sweden, the model became the best -selling car in both 2023 and 2024.
Now the model has been launched in an updated version, with a new design both out and internally, and sales have got a real tear start, reports Carup.

Tear start for Tesla Model Y
The first country where the order books opened for the new Tesla Model Y became China.
In just five days, 73,400 orders were given on the new car, Carup reports with reference to Yicai.
Other information points to around 60,000 cars.
Cheaper in China
One reason for the strong sales in China may be that the price of the car is significantly lower than in Europe.
In China, the new Tesla Model Y can be ordered at a price equivalent to around SEK 455,000, which is a price increase of a modest SEK 20,000 compared to the outgoing model.
In China, the car can already be ordered the base version with the smaller battery and rear wheel drive.

Instead, the launch version in Europe starts at SEK 740,000, which is a price increase of around SEK 100,000 compared to the outgoing version of the car.
Whether Tesla Model Y in its updated version continues to be a sales success in Sweden remains to be seen.
One factor that can affect sales is the general view of Tesla’s controversial CEO Elon Musk, who is closely associated with the brand.
