The municipality does not have its own adult education, but despite the fact that no government funds have been allocated, they buy the service from other municipalities. Both Mjölby and Linköping have said no, while Tranås municipality accepts.
As the only municipality in Östergötland, Boxholm has had approximately 10 of its 15 Ukrainian refugees who can be considered for Swedish education through SFI, in studies – and several of them have already found jobs.
– I am a journalist and trained teacher, says Viktoriya Lunova. Swedish is very important because before course D, we can only get jobs as cleaners.
In Motala, it has been decided to pay Swedish for immigrants for Ukrainian refugees, and preparations are underway even though none have yet started and no admission notices have been sent out.
– I have decided to take in a few at a time, not all at once, says Anna Pedersen, rector of Motala’s adult studies.
