At the beginning of 2019, 11,148 taxi companies were registered nationally. This year there are 14,356, an increase of almost 29 percent. The number of self-employed people in the taxi industry in particular has increased enormously in the past five years, by 43 percent. There are now a total of 935 taxi companies in the province of Utrecht, a lot fewer than in North Holland and South Holland. But the market is growing the fastest here.
