Between March 4 and 8, the Tax Agency sent out the income tax return to those who acquired a so-called digital mailbox before March 3 and now, in mid-March, they start sending out the paper tax return.
Once you have received your return, you will find out if you paid too little tax – and thus need to pay back tax – or if you will get money back in the form of a tax refund.
If you’re going to get it later, maybe you want the money as quickly as possible? But then there are certain requirements.

Then you can get a tax refund in April 2024
The first payments of the tax refund take place between 9 and 12 April. But only to those “who declared digitally no later than April 3 without changing or adding anything”, according to The Swedish Tax Agency’s website.
If you do, for example, make deductions in your return, it is counted as a change and thus you will also not be able to receive your tax refund at the first payment in April, but will have to wait until June.

If you do not make any changes or additions to the declaration and approve the declaration by April 3 at the latest, you should also make sure that you have registered a bank account with the Swedish Tax Agency so that they can pay out your tax refund already in April.
