A high-ranking terrorist leader has been arrested in Turkey. According to media, this is IS’s top leader, but it has not yet been confirmed.
There is “no clear information” about whether it really is Abu Hassan al-Hashimi al-Qurashi, says a high-ranking source to the news agency AFP.
Abu Hassan became the new IS leader as recently as March, when his representative with the similar name Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi was blown to death in connection with an American raid in Idlib in Syria.
AFP’s source only confirms that a person in IS ‘leadership layer’ was arrested last week.
