A 55-year-old man was arrested in central Gothenburg with a gun in his pocket. There were people at the scene who saw the weapon and alerted the police.
– A man has been seen taking the weapon out of his pocket and then putting it back, says police spokesperson Anna Göransson.
The alarm came at 1 p.m. The police task force was called in and found the man outside a shop. The arrest went smoothly, says Anna Göransson.
– We always send a task force when there is information that weapons are involved. They are trained to deal with people with weapons, she says.
The man is suspected of serious weapons offences. At the moment, there is no information about why the man had a gun on him.
– No one has been threatened and the man has not behaved threateningly, says Anna Göransson.
