Broken chains on TV: That’s what the war film with Steve McQueen is about

Germany, 1944: The Allied prisoners are moved from various camps to the completely escape-proof Stalag Luft III prisoner of war camp. Among them are Major Bartlett (Richard Attenborough), Hilts (Steve McQueen) and Hendley (James Garner). All three have experience with the outbreak and want to make the impossible possible All 250 prisoners are supposed to escape with them.

Broken Chains offers everything a film heart desires: exciting action scenes, interesting characters and an incredible story. A lot was changed in favor of the dramaturgy, but the mass escape from Stalag Luft III, which had been planned for months, actually took place, which makes the film even more captivating.

His admiration for the film becomes even clearer in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Here the title character Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) appears as a competitor to Steve McQueen (Damian Lewis). As can be seen in the video, DiCaprio became even inserted into the original recordings of Broken Chainswhere he had to re-enact the scene down to the last detail.
