Kiekko-Espoo, who is enjoying a four-game winning streak, is already in fourth place in the SM league.
On Friday, Kiekko-Espoo, the runner-up of the Ice Hockey Championship, defeated the reigning champion Tappara with 5–3 goals
The people from Espoo already won the fourth game in a row. K-Espoo rose to the fourth place in the league standings with 20 points. Tappara, who played two matches less, is only one point behind.
An unfortunate situation was seen in the final set of the match, when Tappara’s captain Otto Rauhala got the puck violently in his face. Rauhala was playing underpowered when Kiekko-Espoo’s defender Ville Lajunen hit straight into the return puck with superior power.
Rauhala immediately held her face and waved her legs on the surface of the ice. Rauhala lay on the ice for a while, but was able to leave the field on his own. He also raised his hand to the loudly applauding audience, apparently signaling that worse was averted.
With the same superiority, Lajunen finally scored Kiekko-Espoo’s 4–2 goal, which was the winning goal of the match. No less than five goals were seen in the final, even the last hit Matti Järvinen I finished in an empty net.
