Tappara wants to grow into Finlands most valuable international sports

With Tamhockey’s share issue, the company’s capital will increase by more than 1.5 million euros. Nokia-arena, on the other hand, made a loss in the last fiscal year.

Tampara’s parent company Tamhockey Oy, which has won three Finnish hockey championships in a row, made a loss of a good 200,000 euros in the 2023-24 season, but on Wednesday the club from Tampere had good financial news to share.

– Tamhockey’s share issue was an excellent success, and our good self-sufficiency will be further strengthened by the issue by more than 1.5 million euros. At the same time, we gained more expertise among our shareholders, which together with the accumulated buffer fund will support the development of Tappara’s sporting competitiveness and business in the future, CEO Mika Aro told.

Tamhockey’s vision is that Tappara is a respected and successful pioneer of hockey sports and Finland’s most valuable, international sports entertainment brand.

– Tappara has long-term developed its operations in order to be both a sportingly and financially successful club, Aro stated.

The Tampere arena made a loss

The background company of the Tampere arena made a loss of three million euros in the last financial period (2023).

The arena has been the main focus of Finnish events since the closure of the current Helsinki arena. Among other things, the ice hockey World Cup home games were organized there in 2022 and 2023.

The investors’ share of the background company of the Tampere arena is 60 percent, the city of Tampere’s share is 40 percent.

The arena was opened in December 2021.
