The mythical keystone dungeons from World of Warcraft are known for not always being harmonious. How quickly you can be kicked out of the group is now shown by the fate of a tank who actually just wanted a little help with “kicking”.
Why was the tank kicked out of the group? It was actually a smooth dungeon run in the Stone Vault from WoW: The War Within, on the fourth keystone level of the mythic difficulty. However, after a wipe on the second boss (up to that point there were no losses), the situation suddenly escalated.
It was obviously due to a misunderstanding. The Paladin tank asked the group: “Can we kick?” He wanted help interrupting the boss’s spells, and he also asked the group leader to restart the boss fight: “Go reset.”
The War Within is the new expansion of WoW – here is an in-game sequence of the add-on:
Kick him like Beckham
What happened next? However, the group leader interpreted the request to kick and reset differently, namely as a request to kick out of the group and reset the keystone. He felt this was such an egotistical statement that he promptly kicked the tank out of the group.
Only after some explanations from the group members did the leader realize his mistake: “Oh, he mean kick.” On Reddit, TugaTheGoat, who was part of the group, posted a screenshot of the chat history, along with some accompanying words.
How does the community react to the faux pas? She reacted to the story with 2,438 upvotes and almost 400 comments.
In the discussion, the players also point to language barriers. The Paladin is said to come from a French server, while the group leader apparently comes from Portugal, like TugaTheGoat.
