Tanager 1 methane detecting satellite searches for super polluters

The satellite, the Tanager-1, NASA’s new baby and sent into space on Friday, August 16, aboard a SpaceX mission, is in orbit to help combat greenhouse gas emissions. It is the first in a series of satellites that the NGO Carbon Mapper wants to use to detect – from space – leaks of methane, a greenhouse gas 80 times more powerful than carbon dioxide.
