Tame abandoned duck rescued from the wild: “Been bullied”

A bullied running duck has attracted a lot of attention on social media. For a week there have been attempts to capture her – to give her a new life.
– There were tears of joy when we managed to catch her, says rescuer Hanna.

In Nässjö, attempts have been made for a week to capture a tame abandoned mallard at Lake Ingsbergsjön. Hanna Svennemar, at Djurens vänner, finally succeeded:

– We went into the water and managed to catch her within 10 minutes, says Hanna and adds:

– It was fantastic, there were a few of us who got involved and there were tears of joy when we succeeded.

The duck has not had it easy in the wild and was bullied by other ducks.

– She didn’t cope well as it was, says Hanna.

Finally get to play with friends again

The duck has now found a new home in Vetlanda. Where Hanna takes care of it together with Michel Van Son. He says that they have experience with running ducks from before.

– We had room for one more. When we saw the post on Facebook, we said we can help.

The runner is now well-preserved and is now called Bianca and has friends named Drake and Nellie.

– She is doing really well, she sought contact with them immediately. She walks in the garden and swims in the ice pond. It’s going surprisingly well, says Michel.

The engagement in social media has been great.

– There has been a lot of attention around this little duck.
