Inamullah Samangani, deputy spokesman for the Taliban interim government, told the media that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology had been instructed to ban TikTok and PUBG.
Citing the “negative effects of these practices on the development of young people” as the reason for the decision, Samangani stated that the decision was taken at the cabinet meeting of the government.
VERY POPULAR WITH AFGAN YOUTH
On the other hand, the ban of the PUBG game in the former government was also on the agenda. TikTok is very popular among Afghanistan youth and is seen as one of the sources of entertainment.
Other popular social media networks in the country include Facebook and WhatsApp.
According to the data published by DataReportal in January, more than 9 million people use the internet in Afghanistan, which has a population of approximately 39 million. (AA)
