Take advantage of the Flight Formation Research Day if you like collecting shinys

Another field research day starts tomorrow in Pokémon GO. We’ve taken a look at when it’s running and what you can expect here.

When does the research day start? The event will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024. It starts at 2:00 p.m. and will run until 5:00 p.m.

What kind of event is this? A research day is an event in which field research is the focus. In contrast to the spotlight hours, research days take place irregularly.

You get field research when you spin PokéStops. This time the focus is on Flying-type Pokémon. During the event, you’ll receive Field Research that rewards you with the following Pokémon:

  • Habitak*
  • Dodu*
  • Hoothoot*
  • Schwalbini*
  • Geronimatz*

    • * The chance of encountering a Shiny specimen from these Field Research Pokémon is increased in the event. If you’re after these shinys, you should take advantage of the event and complete as much field research as possible.

    What Pokémon are there in the wild? In addition to the Pokémon from field research, there are also wild Pokémon that you can encounter in the event. These are the following:

  • Taubsi*
  • Kramurx*
  • Wingull*
  • Staralili*
  • Dusselgurr*
  • Dartiri*

    • The Pokémon marked with an * can also appear as Shiny, but the chance of getting a Shiny specimen is not increased as is the case with Pokémon from field research.

    Paid temporary research: On Research Day you also have the opportunity to purchase temporary paid research for $1 (approximately €1). Included here are further field research, where you get additional encounters with an event Pokémon of your choice. You can choose one of the following Pokémon:

  • Habitak*
  • Dodu*
  • Hoothoot*
  • Schwalbini*
  • Geronimatz*

    • * In these encounters the chance of Shiny is increased just as it is in regular field research.

    To complete the Temporary Research tasks and receive the rewards, you have until the event ends on May 11, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. After that, the rewards can no longer be collected.
