In League of Legends, the new “Star Guardian” event has been released on the test server. This event will release special cosmic skins that look extra cool. But many players are already criticizing the skins. They’d rather want the versions that Wild Rift, the mobile version of LoL, gets.
What’s the problem with the event? For many, Star Guardian is the biggest event of the year because it has the most and often the craziest skins. Patch 12.13 and thus the first half of the skins are already included on the PBE. Coming:
With patch 12.14 there will be 5 more skins.
But the new skins are not well received by many players on reddit. There is criticism for the choice of champions, for the splash arts and also for the fact that Riot Games obviously knows better. Because in LoL Wild Rift exactly those things are implemented that the PC gamers want.
You can watch the teaser for the “Star Guardian” event here:
“It’s a slap in the face for all PC gamers”
What exactly is being criticized? There are currently several threads in the LoL reddit that criticize the new event. In particular, the selection of Ekko as a prestige skin is not well received. There is also criticism of a nerf to the event rewards that can be earned.
Furthermore, the criticism of the skins of Rakan and Xayah, which were implemented in 2019, is boiling up. Both skins feature a corrupted version of the champions. Since 2019, players have therefore wanted normal versions of the “Star Guardian” skins.
Ironically, this normal version is now getting LoL Wild Rift. Reddit user Macaulyn calls this a “slap in the face to all PC gamers,” and he’s not alone. But the mobile version also makes a lot better from the player’s point of view:
Since Wild Rift has generally received a lot of love from Riot Games in previous events, some players now fear that the mobile version will continue to receive more attention than the PC game in the future.
The general criticism is: The PC version should focus more on quantity, while the mobile version focuses on quality. Out of desperation, some even hope that the PC version will soon get a rework – both in terms of graphics and client (via reddit).
When does the event appear? Star Guardian comes with patch 12.13. Also coming with the update is the new AD carry Nilah and a buff for Master Yi, one of the least popular champions around.
According to the trailer attached above, the patch is scheduled to be released on July 14th.
What do you think of the “Star Guardin” skins? Do you find this annoying as well or do you give mobile players their advantage? And does the PC version of LoL really need a major overhaul?
