The opening of the Paris Paralympics kicked off the giant event late Wednesday in Paris.
Finland marched at the opening of the Paralympics as the 52nd country in French alphabetical order.
The Finnish flag was carried by the greatness of track and field, the legend of athletics Leo-Pekka Tähti and Paralympic first-timer, equestrian Laura Kangasniemi.
– It was an honor to carry the Finnish flag again at the opening ceremony. I have carried the flag once before in London 2012, and it left great memories. I’m also taken by the fact that since these are my last Paralympics, I got the honor of being able to carry the flag one more time, says Tähti.
President of France Emmanuel Macron opened the Paris Paralympics at the Place de la Concorde in central Paris.
Finland has a team of 16 athletes in Paris, whose goal is six medals.
On Thursday, August 29, archers from Finland will start their work in the pulley bow Jean-Pierre Antonios and Jer Forsberg. Antonius competes from 10 a.m. in the men’s W1 ranking round and Forsberg, on the other hand, in the men’s open class ranking round starting at 6 p.m.
The Paralympics will be contested in Paris from August 28 to September 8.
