Table tennis: Smilla Sand ready for the quarter-finals in the Paralympics

The 22-year-old from Malmö impressed in his round of 16 final.

The Norwegian Jenny Helene Slettum had no chance against the Swede – who led the match from start to finish.

Smilla Sand won the first set 11-6 and followed it up by winning the second set 11-5.

Sand didn’t slow down. In the third set, the Swede got four match points. The Norwegian saved one – but Sand decided in the next ball and won 11-7.

– So nice. A nice start to the Swedish introduction to the singles game. Really well done, says expert Anna-Carin Ahlquist.

14-year-old British Bly Twomey awaits in the quarter-finals.

– I’m so busy. It will be fun to enter the quarters, says Smilla Sand.

The quarter-finals will be played tomorrow, Wednesday 12.15.
