Table tennis: European Championship silver to Truls Möregårdh/Anton Källberg – eliminated in the final

Truls Möregårdh had a difficult final day in the championship. First, he fell heavily in the semifinals against Alexis Lebrun in the singles.

Then there was another loss in the doubles final against the Lebrun brothers (Felix and Alexis) when he and Anton Källberg played together.

– We are completely overwhelmed. We have nothing to go on, but a very painful loss. It’s sad to lose, says Anton Källberg to SVT Sport.

Right from the start, the French went on the knock and outclassed the Swedes 11-2 in the first set.

After that, Möregårdh and Källberg had nothing to oppose. The Lebrun brothers won in two straight, 11–6 and 11–8.

– It has been a hard day, but a fun and long week. They can play this well and when they do, it’s incredibly difficult to beat them, says Truls Möregårdh.

SVT’s expert Jan-Ove Waldner agrees with Truls Möregårdh that, above all, Alexis Lebrun showed an impressive game.

– He shows an incredible amount that has not been seen for several years, he says in the broadcast.
