Table tennis: Confirmed: Anton Källberg and Linda Bergström get Olympic spots in singles

SVT Sport has been in contact with the national team captain Jörgen Persson, who confirms that Källberg, who is ranked twelfth in the world in the form of the best-ranked Swedish players, gets the place automatically when the next ranking list is released on Tuesday.

The Swedes have played the star-studded Saudi Smash in Jeddah this week and all were eliminated in the first round, which made no difference in the rankings.

Truls Möregårdh is well positioned to get second place

The second place will be taken by Jörgen Persson in his role as national team captain. There are 18-ranked Truls Möregårdh and 23-ranked Mattias Falck to choose from. 47-ranked Kristian Karlsson, selected in mixed with Stina Källberg, already has a place in the team and can also theoretically be selected in singles.

Jörgen Persson refrains from giving any comments until it becomes official next week.

Among the ladies, it is clear that 27-ranked Linda Bergström will get Sweden’s first place in singles.

    – Yes, she is highly ranked and will get the one place. The other one I have to think about, says women’s national team captain Tobias Bergman to SVT Sport from Jeddah.

Sweden has places in singles, mixed and a men’s and a women’s team in Paris.
