Since the first of November, Systembolaget has urged people to return their drunk beer bottles because there is a lot of wastage of the bottles – which can be pawned and 90 öre paid for, reports P4 Jönköping.
The initiative comes after the industry organization Sweden’s Breweries announced large wastage of beer bottles.
– Nine to ten million glasses per year are not returned but thrown away and then we have to buy new bottles. After all, these bottles are designed to be filled and washed again and again, they can hopefully go 40 times, says Anna–Karin FondbergCEO of Sveriges Bryggerier to the radio channel and continues:
– I think that the vast majority of people want to do the right thing, but that they don’t know how to do it.
