“A man attacked passers -by at random with a knife” in the small town of Villach, in the Carinthia region, near the Slovenian border, had warned the police around 7 p.m. Saturday. The attack took place around 4 p.m. “He first argued with people on a side street, then he started to strike, we first tried to hold him back. But we saw the knife and we moved away,” said Mahir , 29 years old, in the newspaper Kronen Zeitung. He participated in arresting the attacker, before the police arrived.

Ahmad G. benefits from a residence permit awaiting examination of his asylum request, explains The Parisian. According to witnesses to the scene, he shouted “Allahou Akbar” at the time of the attack.
