In our Synced preview content, which is one of the new examples of the Looter shooter genre, we take a close look at the closed beta production.
Synced preview: Synced is a game that we had the chance to try with its closed beta recently and it tries to create a unique style as well as shooter dynamics. First of all, you will be able to experience this game in the Synced open beta stage as of December 10 and January 15. Because the closed beta phase of the game has been completed, it will be offered to all players with its open beta in this wide period of time.
Let’s open a parenthesis and talk about why this game has such high potential. Behind the game are companies such as Level Infinite and NExt Studios, so Tencent, one of the best companies in this business. Tencent Games recently introduced the Level Infinite umbrella company to offer higher quality games worldwide. Here we can say that Synced, whose closed beta we played, will appear as one of the first projects bearing the company’s signature.
Synced preview / Closed beta
First of all, let’s say that Synced has Turkish language support and will be a completely free production to play. In fact, some content that will be reflected in the fee system in the game is also included in the beta phase. The majority of this content is appearance-oriented. So at least at this stage, there is no Pay to Win situation.
I think that if the team establishes this balance well in the full version of the game, as in the beta phase, it will receive positive feedback from the players. The fact that the game is in Turkish is of course a big advantage. You may encounter minor errors in the translation part or on the visual side, such as the character remaining in the air, but we think that these errors will be corrected in the full version since it is still in beta stage. At least it will be reduced to a much more minimal level.
Synced is an action game with both PvP and PvE dynamics. By teaming up with three of your friends, you control the characters called Runners. The unique features of each of these characters provide variety in the gameplay. In other words, some of them are designed in a structure where you can get into the action, some of them are masterful on the sniper side, and some have the advantages of the medic class.
As a story, the game has a post-apocalyptic theme. However, even if you think of an image of a destroyed civilization, technological content is positioned at the center of the game on the gameplay side. At the beginning of these, if we do not count our weapons, nano technology comes. Since this technology is the most important element of the destroyed civilization, it is well integrated into the game dynamics. After a disaster called the Collapse, you see these nano-machines literally taking over humanity and creating a hybrid type of enemy. We control the Runners, who also take advantage of this nano technology and can roam the barren lands without fear.
As runners, our biggest goal in both PvP and PvE modes is to loot. This doesn’t just apply to weapons or ammunition. As you collect particles called Nerva, you gain a great advantage in the game. We can also use the big Nanos that you encounter on the playground to our advantage by assimilating them. You can release a Nano you take with you to the battlefield and make it fight against both artificial intelligence and other players. These Companion Nano creatures settle on your character’s arm, and when you release them, they dive right into the enemy zone where you point.
Nano is fun to use, just like the Runner classes, there is a class distinction in them. You can choose Nanos in the scout class that can detect melee, protection or nerva points.
The PvE mode also introduces the scenario operation. You go to different regions and fight against this great threat as a team. After each episode, we return to our home base named Haven, where we can also enter PvP modes. The PvP mode is named Nerva run. As I mentioned before and you can understand from the name of the mod, collecting Nerva is the most important point. In other words, even though there is a team that hits more enemies than you, your high Nerva score makes a great contribution to your placement in the first place.
They based this system on a win-lose dynamic. You have three rights in the game and you can respawn near your teammate when you get hit. The key point here is that if your teammate can’t lift you when you fall, as in PUBGM, a portion of the amount of Nerva you collect goes as a penalty. In other words, while trying to rank first by collecting Nerva, you also need to ensure that your opponents lose Nerva and time.
The map system of the game has its own unique touches, but we can say that it is logically based on a PUBG-like system. Of course, you don’t have to run for minutes, except for dynamics like Nerva. Because in order to collect nerva, you have to equal many NPC enemies on the playing field. This ensured that the tempo of the game was constantly up. For this reason, the style of the game can be said to be a kind of looter shooter.
Without forgetting, the weapon and feature development system is also among the important elements in the gameplay. You can collect factors such as new equipment, weapons or armor by looting on the playground. However, you have to carefully use the stations distributed on the playground to improve your attributes or weapon effects. Although spending at these stations will consume your credit, it actually allows you to become much more advantageous against your competitors.
Synced has managed to capture a unique atmosphere visually. Of course, we cannot say that it is a AAA-style game in terms of coating or effect quality. But considering that this game will be free and aim to reach as many players as possible, we can say that the visual quality is at a good level. On the other hand, as I mentioned at the beginning, there are minor errors and disruptions in the Nano artificial intelligence.
With the feedback that will come after the open beta phase, we are likely to encounter both these errors and changes in the structure of the game. That’s all for now about the game, whose full release date has not been announced yet. As I said, it is a production with potential especially for this genre. If you like the looter shooter genre and playing games with your friends, you can give the game a chance during the long open beta period (December 10 – January 15).
