Synagogue attack in Israel: 7 dead, 3 injured

Synagogue attack in Israel 7 dead 3 injured

It was announced that an attacker opened fire on the people leaving the synagogue in the Neve Yaakov district of Jerusalem yesterday, and the police then neutralized the attacker. It was stated that 7 people died and 3 people were injured in the incident. Police stated that the attacker was a 21-year-old male living in Jerusalem, who came to the scene by car and waited for those praying for the Sabbath to leave the synagogue and then opened fire on those who left.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who came to the scene and received information from the authorities, described the incident as the worst attack in recent years and said, “We must act decisively and calmly, I invite people not to apply justice with their own hands.”

BIDEN: AN ATTACK ON THE CIVIL WORLD

In a statement from the White House, it was stated that US President Joe Biden called Netanyahu by phone about the attack. “The President has made it clear that this is an attack on the civilized world. He offered whatever support was appropriate to the Government and People of Israel in the coming days. The President stressed the United States’ steadfast commitment to Israel’s security and expressed that his team would remain in constant contact with their Israeli counterparts.

“The Secretary-General strongly condemns the terrorist attack carried out today by a Palestinian perpetrator outside a synagogue in Jerusalem, which claimed the lives of at least seven Israelis and injured several others,” the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said in a written statement.
