Fashion Week ended more than a week ago, but trends are just beginning! One of them was unanimous to all parades. And it’s not fur!
The houses surely passed the word, because a trend was adopted by several designers and caused a sensation to the last fashion week. In addition to faux fur, leather, epaulettes and belts brought to excess, another element of our dressing room has been revisited.
Already a tendency of centuries before Jesus Christ, it was an indicator of wealth and power and was carried by the greatest empresses and queens. Marie-Antoinette was known to arrange it on her hair. Likewise for Lady Di who adorned her neck with this famous stone when she wore her famous Revenge Dress. Then it was the turn of the celebrities to highlight it. We think in particular of the iconic look of Audrey Hepburn in the famous film Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961).
This is of course the pearl. Each summer, she dresses all the head ports. But today, it is no longer found only on the neck, the earrings or the bracelets. She also adorns bags, clothes, even shoes!
It is especially at Chanel that she did not go unnoticed. For his latest parade, presented on March 11, 2025 in his usual place, the Grand Palais, the French house presented silhouettes decorated with pearls, from head to toe (literally!). She took the place of the heel of the shoe, but also that of the bag. The pearl was also present around the neck of the models, as tradition dictates. As a reminder, this marine pearl experienced a revival of popularity in the 1920s, notably thanks to Coco Chanel, who often wore and integrated it into many of his creations!
A few days earlier, the Indian brand Dhruv Kapoor presented cardigans and blazers inlaid with pearls during the Italian fashion week. The same goes for Di Petsa, which has designed pearl meshes wrapping the whole body for London Fashion Week.
The pearls had also already gave us an appointment the previous season, especially at the Printemps-summer parade in Bottega Veneta, September 21, 2024! They were repainted in green and formed a nice necklace short neck.
Elegant and sophisticated, whether they are all round or a particular shape, white or colorful, pearls are everywhere this year. It’s not for nothing that Aliana Grande decided to incorporate it into her collection with Swarovski! So do not hesitate to adopt them around the neck, on the clothes or on the shoe!
