Besides Rambo, Rocky is the most famous role in Sylvester Stallone’s career. After a total of six parts, the star returned in 2015 in his signature role to slowly his farewell to the character to initiate The spin-off Creed – Rocky’s Legacy airs on Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. on Kabel 1 and shows Stallone in a brilliant acting performance.

The Rocky spin-off is about Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan), the son of Rocky’s one-time arch-rival Apollo Creed. Many years later, Rocky becomes the mentor of the young boxing talent who wants to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Even though Creed takes center stage as Michael B. Jordan as the new lead, Stallone shines with a fantastically understated performance as a wise older mentor. In old age, the star gives his cult role a whole new fragility and sensitivitywhich gives Stallone one of his best acting performances ever.

For his performance in Creed, the actor was awarded won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. Stallone was also nominated in the category at the Oscars for his portrayal of Rocky. Here, however, he lost the trophy to Mark Rylance, who was awarded for Steven Spielberg’s drama Bridge of Spies.

Stallone was no longer present in Creed 3

For the sequel Creed II, Stallone returned one last time in his signature role to finally say goodbye to Rocky. Because the actor and Rocky inventor fell out with the owners of the brand – so much that he will probably never appear in a film in the series again. In Creed 3, he was written almost entirely out of the storyline. The film opened in cinemas earlier this year.
